INGREDIENTS

  • 1 1/2 oz butter
  • 1 1/2 lb onions, sliced
  • salt, pepper, dried thyme
  • sugar
  • juice 1/2 lemon
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 8 fl oz white wine
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley

DIRECTIONS

  • Melt the butter in a pan and fry the onions for 10 minutes, until golden. Season with salt, pepper, thyme, sugar and the lemon juice.
  • Sprinkle on the flour and fry for 2 minutes, stirring carefully. Pour the wine into the pan, cover, and simmer for 25 minutes.
  • Transfer the onions to a warmed dish, sprinkle on the parsley and serve.
