INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup warm milk (around 100°F)
  • 1 package yeast, 1/4 ounce
  • 2 Tbl. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 3 Tbl. butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 to 4 cups all-purpose flour

DIRECTIONS

  • Proof yeast by heating milk to approximately 100°F. Add sugar and salt to the milk and stir to dissolve sugar and salt. Sprinkle yeast over milk. Set mixture aside for about 5 minutes in a warm dry area. Pour three cups of flour into bowl of food processor. Add vegetable oil and melted butter. Pulse mixture to combine.
  • After the yeast has become a bubbly foam (proofed) add the yeast mixture to the processor bowl and process until dough becomes a ball. If dough happens to form half a ball but tends to stick to the blade do not be concerned. Remove dough from the bowl to a flour dusted work area or board. Use as little flour a possible to be able to handle the dough. Form the dough into a rectangle about 5 inches x 6 inches and position left to right on the work surface.
  • Press indentations into the entire dough rectangle. Take the right 1/3 of the dough and fold to the left over the rest of the dough. Fold the left portion of the dough to the right and over the rest of the dough. Flip the dough over and repeat the pressing and folding two more times. Form the dough into a ball and place into a greased bowl, rolling the dough around to coat the entire ball with oil. Cover and let rise for 1 hour or until dough size doubles.
  • After dough has doubled in size, place the dough on the work surface. Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a rectangle 6 inches high by 24 inches wide and position the rectangle with the 24 inches being left to right. Cut the rectangle in half, top to bottom. Cut each 1/2, in half, top to bottom creating 4 portions of dough. Taking one edge of a dough portion, roll the portion to form a cigar shape. Try to crimp the ends to remove creases and roll the dough to remove length wise creases. Place dough rolls on greased baking sheet and let rise for 30 minutes. Place on middle rack of 375°F oven and bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to rack to cool.
