INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup (8 oz) finely cut pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons grated orange rind

DIRECTIONS

  • In a small, heavy saucepan, combine dates, water, brown sugar, and orange rind. Cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until mixture is thick enough to hold its shape and dates have absorbed the water.
  • Cool a little before using.
