Potato

Real Baked Potatoes have a wonderful flavor and taste which cannot be achieved using a microwave. Baking potatoes is easy, does take a little time, but the result of baking is just wonderful.

INGREDIENTS

  • Baking potatoes (approximately 5 in. long, 3 in. wide)
  • Salt
  • Condiments (optional, see instructions)

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Wash potatoes leaving them wet. Using the tines of a fork, punch holes into the potatoes down the length of the potatoes on at least three sides, just deep enough to puncture skin.
  • Liberally sprinkle entire surface of potatoes with salt. Place damp salted potatoes onto flat baking sheet or pan - preferably one without sides. Leave as much space between potatoes as possible. If potatoes touch, the sheet is too small.
  • Place potatoes into 400°F oven. Set kitchen timer for 1 hour. At the end of 1 hour, remove potatoes from oven.
  • Cut potatoes from end-to-end and press in on top and bottom end of potato at the same time to open cut. Using knife, loosen the potato meat inside the skin. Add desired condiments to the potato, i.e., salt, pepper, butter, sour cream, snipped chives, bacon bits, etc. Enjoy!
