INGREDIENTS

  • 1/2 large onion, chopped
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup finely chopped uncooked chicken
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sweet rice wine (or 1 tablespoon sherry mixed with 1/2 tablespoon sugar)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons sherry

DIRECTIONS

  • Soak chopped onion in water for 10 minutes; squeeze out moisture.
  • Combine onion, chicken, sugar, rice wine, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, and egg. Stir until thoroughly mixed. Roll into bite-size balls.
  • Heat oil in pan. Add chicken balls and brown on all sides.
  • Combine water, sherry, and remaining soy sauce. Pour over chicken balls and cook until liquid is almost evaporated. Remove from heat and serve.
