  • 4 to 6 turkey drumsticks
  • 1 tablespoon shortening or fat, melted
  • 1 medium onion, chopped fine
  • 1/2 cup celery, chopped fine
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
  • 1/2 cup catsup
  • 1 (8-ounce) can seasoned tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup water


  • Rinse and pat dry each turkey drumstick. Combine shortening, onion and celery in pan; cook until soft and translucent. Add remaining ingredients and mix thoroughly. Place turkey on grill over red-hot coals and cook for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, turning occasionally. Baste with sauce the last 15 minutes of cooking. Serve any remaining sauce with drumsticks.
