INGREDIENTS

  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons melted margarine or butter
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper
  • lard
  • dressed rabbit

DIRECTIONS

  • Mix all ingredients, except lard and rabbit, well to make sauce.
  • Melt lard and grease inside of a brown paper bag.
  • Cut rabbit into pieces, like a chicken.
  • Salt each piece of rabbit and dip in sauce; place into bag.
  • Pour remaining sauce over rabbit in bag. Twist and tie bag securely.
  • Place bag in dry roaster in oven and cook at 500°F for 15 minutes. Place lid on roaster and reduce heat to 350°F and cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  • Remove roaster from oven and lift off bag. Leave rabbit in the roaster and baste with the sauce left in roaster until brown.
