  • 1 lb. penne pasta
  • 6 slices bacon, chopped
  • 12 oz. quartered Brussels sprouts
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1/2 t pepper
  • 2 medium shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 c. golden raisins
  • 1/2 c. dry white wine or substitute 1 T lemon juice and water to 1/2 c.


  • Cook pasta as label directs, reserving 1/2 c. pasta water before draining.
  • Meanwhile, in 5-qt. saucepot, cook bacon on medium-high 5 minutes or until crisp, stirring. Transfer bacon to plate.
  • Add sprouts to fat in skillet along with salt and pepper. Cover and cook 5 minutes (do not stir). Reduce heat to medium. Add shallots, raisins. Cook 2 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add white wine; cook 2 minutes, scraping up browned bits.
  • To sprouts, add bacon, cooked pasta and reserved pasta water.
